About

I am a Kildare based amateur photographer with a love for all things outdoors. In my professional life I run a land surveying business which has me out and about scrambling through hedgerows and subconsciously inhaling my natural surroundings. It’s just in my blood.

From a very young age I was always fascinated with nature. Long before the internet engrained itself into our lives magazines were our main source of information. I remember my mother buying me a monthly magazine called ‘The Living Countryside’ which I collected and just adored reading. I still have all those old volumes in my attic and every now and again I find time to flick through and transport myself back to simpler times.

I bought my first camera with some of my confirmation money. It was an old 35mm Practika MTL 50 and it broke my heart as I had no clue how it worked but I just wanted to take photos.

Fast forward a few decades and after spending 10 years as a professional sports photographer I have gone back to my roots of just enjoying the natural environment. There is a real sense of grounding when I go out with my camera and find myself listening for the sounds of the forest and the canopies above. I find it the best therapy after a hard week’s work.

I exclusively use OM system cameras and lenses.

I enjoy the outdoors, nature and I enjoy taking photographs. I do this as my hobby and at 55 years of age it is still great to be learning new techniques and trying to improve with every shot.
