Behind the image - Indoor Winter Macro

A 3cm long feather helped on a raining winters day.

May 2025: Winter can be a tough time for photographers. Finding the motivation to go out and shoot can be a challenge. Back in January 25 when I was first exploring macro photography I found this tiny feather outside on the road.

I took it inside and got somewhat creative with it. I got two old tablets belonging to my children and lay one down as the base and stood the other behind as the backdrop. I lit the subject with the light from my andoid phone and proceeded to use my OM System OM1 MKii & 90mm macro lens to get the shots. As an early attempt at indoor macro with a natural world feel I am pretty happy with the result.

There are some more images of this same feather in my macro gallery.
